Pfizer is Incredibly Close to Having Its Omicron Vaccine Ready for Distribution

Another superstar of the COVID crisis, the geniuses at Pfizer has been working tirelessly to develop a new vaccine for the latest variant of the SARS-COV-2 virus – Omicron.

While the Omicron variant is thought to be significantly less severe than previous iterations of the virus, there will still be a need to have vaccines on hand to protect the vulnerable – much in the same way seasonal flu vaccines have historically been made available.

Now Pfizer has come out and said its Omicron vaccine is now in early production and will likely be available in March and, while it is still not clear whether this variant will even require a vaccine, the company has chosen to ere on the side of caution and make sure one is available, should one be needed.

The new vaccine has also been designed to target the other COVID variants which are currently circulating to make sure the most benefit can be gained from a single dose of the drug.

Speaking to CNBC on Monday 10th January 2020, Pfizer CEO, Albert Bourla said, “The hope is that we will achieve something that will have way, way better protection particularly against infections, because the protection against the hospitalizations and the severe disease – it is reasonable right now, with the current vaccines as long as you are having let’s say the third dose.”
