Pfizer Accelerates Digital Transformation with the Launch of a Digital Operations Centre
As one of the key players in the fight against the global COVID-19 crisis, Pfizer understands better than most the catastrophic impact the pandemic has had on our ability to move pharmaceutical products around the world.
However, the pharma titan is now looking to meet those challenges head on with a digital transformation overhaul designed to help it manage its operations and supply chain more effectively than ever.
The core of this effort has come in the development of the AI powered Pfizer Global Supply – Digital Operations Center (DOC) project.
The DOC – which has a patent pending – is a digital solutions designed to function as a virtual cockpit for Pfizer’s entire value chain operation. By providing a shared view of end-to-end manufacturing and supply operational performance data, data produced by the DOC has empowered Pfizer to reduce up to 10% of cycle-time in some of its key manufacturing areas – such as its ability to manufacture and supply its lifesaving COVID-19 vaccine all over the world.
“This solution has transformed how manufacturing colleagues collaborate and make decisions, providing tools to enable them to predict an issue before it happens and adjust in real time,” said Executive Vice President and Chief Digital and Technology Officer at Pfizer, Lidia Fonseca. “The DOC allows teams to mine data to provide analysis on variations compared to previously estimate standard lead-times, enabling further improvement opportunities.”
