In association with EFESO Consulting, Sonoco Thermosafe and Skycell, the LogiPharma Sustainability report is coming

09/21/2023

As the planet swelters under the relentless heat of the climate crisis, our commitment to a greener, healthier future has never been more important.

That's why, WBR Insights has produced its inaugural sustainability report—a beacon of hope and transformation in the quest for a more sustainable world.

In the scorching crucible of Q3 2023, we engaged with 150 Heads of Supply Chain and senior executives from the life sciences supply chain across Europe to uncover the trials and triumphs of their sustainability endeavours.

We delved deep into their challenges, aspirations, and innovative solutions, driven by a shared determination to make a difference. Sponsored by EFESO Consulting, Sonoco ThermoSafe and SkyCell, they step into the role of thought leaders, generating transformative industry insights.

The report is a story of resilience, innovation, and a collective commitment to steer the course towards a greener horizon. Our research in chapter one focuses on redesigning your supply chain to enhance sustainability, giving readers an insight into where their peers are in achieving their sustainability goals and the solutions they are bringing to the table.

When asked in our survey how sustainable their current supply chain is, a whopping 85% of respondents believe their current supply chain is only ‘somewhat sustainable’ when measured against the United Nations Sustainability development goals.

In the realm of sustainability, the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals are serving as an indispensable guide for pharmaceutical industry pioneers in their quest to excel. These goals present a roadmap outlining how the sector can enhance healthcare accessibility for a wider populace, all the while diminishing its ecological footprint.

The pharmaceutical sector finds itself in a distinct and pivotal role, poised to champion sustainability through the creation of life-saving medications that enhance public well-being. Nevertheless, there is a growing demand from stakeholders for more tangible actions targeting equitable access and affordability.

Yet, a significant obstacle in the pursuit of these objectives lies in packaging, where safety standards must be upheld to safeguard patients from potential risks.

Chapter two of our report delves deeper into the intricate balance between sustainability and safety emerging from a packaging standpoint. In fact, 65% of supply chain leaders revealed that the biggest hindrance when driving forward thermal packaging is understanding the CO2 impact of their current packaging.

Although this will be a complex undertaking, pharma leaders are embracing the challenge and taking the steps necessary to drive change forward. In an era where the need to curtail CO2 emissions grows ever more pressing, the endeavour to achieve ambitious sustainability targets carries a tangible cost.

Chapter three will tell our readers just that, sharing the latest and most effective strategies for emission reduction. Our survey even divulges the monetary value that respondents ascribe to 1 ton of CO2e within their supply chains. You do not want to miss out!

Our first annual sustainability report will be released in October 2023 and will showcase the bold strides being taken towards a greener and more sustainable future. With excellent contributions from companies such as Baxter international Inc and MSD, it is clear the industry is committed to becoming more environmentally responsible and refuses to be deterred by the challenges on the horizon.
