Roche and E.ON are Championing Renewable Energy to Supply Chain Partners

06/16/2021

As one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical brands, Roche understands all too well how much energy it takes to keep life-saving medicines, vaccines, and its recently patented SARS-COV-2 variant test moving.

That’s why it has launched an innovative new scheme with energy supplier E.ON to get its supply chain partners to switch to wind-driven energy. Through the scheme, partners will gain access to an energy supply basket which will give them special rates on 100% Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin (REGO) wind backed electricity.

By aggregating the volume of demand, the scheme will give all those involved greater purchasing power and drive down the cost of renewable energy for all – making it a far more competitive option than ever before.

The scheme is due to launch in October 2021 and Roche is also working with Manufacture 2020 to assist suppliers with more effective reporting of emissions.

Scott Davis, General Counsel and Company Secretary, Roche UK and Project Sponsor, said, “We know that renewable energy is very important and take our commitment to reducing our overall environmental footprint seriously. The pilot is an exciting initiative that will help our suppliers access renewable energy at an affordable price whilst helping us to better understand the way they behave towards achieving sustainability.
