AstraZeneca Partners with All Nippon Airways for Vaccine Delivery
The best way to distribute vaccines to the furthest regions of the world has been a top priority for pharma brands since the onset of the global COVID-19 crisis. With supply chains suffering significant challenges as a direct result of the pandemic, the need for innovative solutions has rarely been more essential.
To help its vaccines reach countries in the Asian region, AstraZeneca has partnered with Japan’s largest airline, and one which has held a five-star rating for eight consecutive years – All Nippon Airways [ANA] and Yusen Logistics Co.
Through this innovative partnership, AstraZeneca vaccines can be shipped via air freight from Japan to countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, and the Philippines. The vaccines themselves are provided by the Japanese government.
“The transportation of vaccines presents a number of logistical challenges, requiring ANA to leverage its full range of expertise and experience gained at the forefront of cargo transportation,” said ANA in a press release. “Despite the challenges, ANA has an exceptional track record in the delivery of pharmaceutical goods and has established a reliable and efficient operational structure for the global delivery of vaccines and other crucial medical supplies.”
