60 seconds with…Graham Cromb, VP, UPS Healthcare Europe
We spoke with Graham Cromb, VP, UPS Healthcare Europe to discuss UPS Healthcare’s response to the pandemic, global vaccine distribution and how the challenges over the past two years have helped equip their healthcare network for the growing demand in biologics.
Following two years of upheaval due to Covid-19, which are the biggest goals for you in your role currently?
Our biggest goal is to adapt and stay one step ahead of the ever-evolving demands of the healthcare supply chain. We have delivered well over 1 billion COVID-19 vaccines in more than 110 countries at service reliability levels of 99.9%. While the vaccine rollout has seen huge success, the fight still isn’t over and we need to keep working with our partners to advance equitable vaccine delivery around the world. The networks we’ve built for COVID-19 vaccine delivery will create long-term value in the future delivery of temperature-controlled drugs and therapies. We’re investing in and expanding our facilities to provide complete, end-to-end temperature-controlled logistics in Europe and globally.
What is your primary challenge in building the supply chain of the future?
When you look to the future of healthcare, it’s all about innovations in biologics, specialty pharmaceuticals, and personalized medicine. These products make up the majority of the new products in development and are driving significant demand for precision logistics for what are patient-critical, time-and temperature-sensitive products. As an industry, we will have to continue to work together to build greater resilience and flexibility into our global supply chains to meet these ever-evolving demands. The good news is, the global distribution of the COVID-19 vaccines has shown just how quickly we can adapt and deliver as an industry.
What are you most looking forward to at LogiPharma 2022?
After all this time online, I’m most looking forward to connecting with friends, colleagues, and industry leaders. Meeting in person fosters a much more dynamic exchange of ideas and I look forward to discussing where we’ve been and where we’re going.
